Stephen Gill
Stephen Gill came to Cornwall in the sixties, where he did much to enrich the cultural life of the city. In 1973, He formed the Cornwall Writers’ Guild to support fledgling writers and establish a support network. Through his efforts, the Cornwall Branch of the Canadian Authors Association was formed in 1977. Shortly thereafter he established Vesta Publications to which he added a print arm, which qualified for Ontario Arts Council grants.
We honour Stephen Gill for his prodigious output, lifelong experimentation with new literary forms and especially his perennial theme of peace, which he pursued in his art and in his life.
Stephen Gill est arrivé à Cornwall dans les années soixante, et il a beaucoup fait pour enrichir la vie culturelle de la ville. En 1973, il a formé la Cornwall Writers’ Guild pour soutenir les écrivains débutants et établir un réseau de soutien. Grâce à ses efforts, la section de Cornwall de la Canadian Authors Association a été créée en 1977. Peu de temps après, il a créé Vesta Publications, à laquelle il a ajouté un service d’impression, qui a pu bénéficier de subventions du Conseil des arts de l’Ontario.
Nous honorons Stephen Gill pour sa fabuleuse production, et surtout pour son thème permanent de la paix.
