Doug Hill worked tirelessly in every capacity in theatre from set painter to director in every theatre group in Cornwall from 1962 to 2000. Doug chaired the Seaway Valley Arts Council and, in 1997, was the Council’s Arts person of the Year. Doug is also an accomplished writer, with awards from the Ottawa Valley Writers’ Society, Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation, and the Eastern Ontario Drama League. He was a contract writer for the NAC/GCTC’s writers’ Unit and Max Keeping’s script writer for the Glengarry Show at the NAC. Doug was a teachers’ teacher, having served for 3 years as principal and instructor at Ontario’s first Theatre Arts course for teachers, at Brock University.
Doug Hill a travaillé sans relâche dans toutes les fonctions du théâtre, de peintre de plateau à metteur en scène, dans toutes les troupes de théâtre de Cornwall de 1962 à 2000. Doug a présidé le Seaway Valley Arts Council et, en 1997, il a été nommé personnalité artistique de l’année par le Conseil. Doug est également un écrivain accompli, récompensé par la Société des auteurs de la vallée de l’Outaouais (Ottawa Valley Writers’ Society), la Fédération des Enseignants-Enseignantes des écoles secondaires de l’Ontario et la ligue ontarienne de théâtre (Eastern Ontario Drama League). Il a été scénariste contractuel pour l’Unité des écrivains du CNA/GCTC et scénariste de Max Keeping pour le Glengarry Show au CNA. Doug a été enseignant, ayant été pendant trois ans directeur et instructeur du premier cours d’art dramatique pour enseignants en Ontario, à l’université Brock.
