Janet Irwin made her mark in theatre locally when she co-founded the Dialogue Theatre Company. Now based now in the nation’s capital, Janet has directed for Great Canadian Theatre Company, Upper Canada Playhouse, Opera Lyra Ottawa, St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival and the National Arts Centre. Janet’s contributions to theatre have been recognized with Ottawa’s Victor Tolgesy Arts Award in recognition of her 40-year contribution to the development of local theatre and opera artists and a variety of arts organizations in Ottawa, but she still comes home to support, mentor and adjudicate community theatre ventures here. Recently, Janet was given Life Membership in Canadian Actors’ Equity.
